How do u get the intense black? 7B does not work as graphite is sort of grey.. not deep and very dark black..

The blackness on this is probably the way it photographed. For true blackness you could use an oil based black pencil.

Thanks Russ. I keep looking at it and doubting it as 'one of my best'. I feel that on my latest drawings the skin has been so smooth and lacking detail I haven't had to put much drawing skill into them. Think I need to draw someone with wrinkles again to reassure myself I can still do it :P

Slow.

Time is short these days and when I finally get an hour or so... I am too damn tired.

Excuses, excuses... I know.

Life does seem to get in the way sometimes making time and enthusiasm really difficult. I made a resolution to get at least two drawings completed each month but, don't know how long I can keep that up :P

Best of luck with that.

Last year I quit smoking. This year, although I have been working out for a few months already, my main priority is fitness.

As always amazing details. That's one great, expressive portrait. I love that 'devil in the eyes' kind of look of hers. As far as details go I'm 100% mesmerized by her hair, the texture on that is fantastic :stare:
I don't know if I already told you how I love that when you portrait someone it's never just a portrait that looks amazing but it speaks. The people you portrait never have that blank stare. They always laugh or do a funny face, and that is so important to make a portrait something more than just a display of skills (at least I think so).
Thank you for another great artwork :)
